All About Fibre
Fibre plays an important role in keeping your digestive system healthy however the
average person falls far short of meeting the fibre recommendation of 25 to 30 grams
a day. In fact, most of us only eat about 14-17 grams!
Fibre is the structural portion of a plant, and so it is found in whole fruits,
vegetables, beans and grains, such as Kellogg's® All-Bran®!
Remember that there is no fibre in meats, fish or poultry.
Kellogg's® All-Bran Flakes® is rich in wholegrain
fibre. This fibre hasn't had the bran and germ removed by milling so it makes for
an excellent source of fibre!
A grain is considered whole when all three parts – bran, germ and endosperm – are
present. Most people know that fruits and vegetables contain beneficial phytochemicals
and antioxidants, but many do not realize that wholegrains are often an even better
source of these key nutrients. In fact, wholegrains are a good source of B vitamins,
Vitamin E, Magnesium and Iron, as well as other valuable antioxidants.
Food that lingers in the digestive tract is the cause of that bloated, uncomfortable
feeling. A healthy amount of wholegrain fibre, found in Kellogg's®
All-Bran®, helps absorb water to create bulk and speed up the movement
of food through the digestive system.
Kellogg's® All-Bran Flakes® provide a great source
of fibre and is 80% wholegrain!
